A new licence in the household changes the rating.

Renovating

New kitchens, bathrooms and additions change the rebuild value.

A second property may or may not sit on the same policy.

Working from home

Changing vehicle use

Commuting, business use and mileage all feed the price.

WHY HIFA

Common questions

Home and auto questions.

Do I have to insure my home and auto with the same company?
No. You can keep them with different insurers if that works out better. Placing them together is one option a broker can price alongside keeping them separate.
Is bundling always cheaper?
No, and any broker who says otherwise is selling. An insurer with strong auto pricing may have narrower home wording, weaker water coverages or a less useful claims experience. We compare the combined position on coverage as well as price, and we will tell you when splitting the policies is genuinely better.
Can I bundle condo and auto insurance?
Yes, and it is usually worth doing. Reviewing both allows multi-line discounts to be considered and lets the broker spot exposures that sit across the boundary — a vehicle kept in the building's underground parking, for example.
Can tenants bundle tenant and auto insurance?
Yes, and it is usually worth doing. Reviewing both allows multi-line discounts to be considered and lets the broker confirm there are no gaps between the two — belongings kept in the vehicle, for example, are treated differently by each policy.
What information do I need for a combined quote?
You do not need every document before contacting HIFA. Having both current policies to hand is the single most useful thing, because it lets the broker compare rather than guess. Property address and details; All vehicles in the household; All licensed drivers at the address; Requested effective dates; Any prior claims.
Can I switch one policy before the other renews?
Yes. Policies can usually be moved mid-term, or one can be arranged to align with the other's renewal. There may be short-rate considerations on cancelling mid-term, which your broker will explain before anything is changed so you can decide with the full picture.
